Northern English solo rock artist Kim Jennett is renowned for her explosive stage presence and banshee-like powerful vocals. Known as the “Pocket-Sized Powerhouse,” she earned her title from unforgettable performances at Download Festival and The Voice. We did feature Kim when she was alongside Krissy Matthews on his new single “Queen, and when we spoke to Krissy, he was on tour with her.

Moving on! Although this is a review of “Dead to Me,” I am also touching on an earlier single from Kim that I like called “Hell is Wherever you Are” that came out in September 2024; I sometimes find it helps the review when you have a couple of tracks to listen to.

So,  “Hell is Wherever you Are” is a proudly hard rocking track with melodic vocals with plenty of angst and some powerful riffs supporting the rock radio-friendly delivery. It takes me back to the Doro Pesch “Doro” album in 1990 (the one produced by Gene Simmons); it has that vibe.

“Dead to Me” is another rocket ride, fast and hard-hitting—“Rest in hell, you are Dead to” Me”—yes, that’s a message I could give to someone I know!! The track builds on the previous release; it has an immediate impact with a heavy drum sound and very crisp production. Again, we have a highly commercial heavy rock feel. I found a touch of those LA punk rockers The Bombpops in the grooves. Playing it back-to-back twice completely blew away any morning cobwebs that were lingering. I definitely liked it, and to ‘ghosts in the night’ that we all know—this one’s for you!

In summary, Kim Jennett continues to prove why she’s a force in the British rock scene, delivering raw energy and powerhouse vocals that demand attention. Hell is Wherever You Are channels classic hard rock vibes with a melodic yet angst-driven edge, while Dead to Me ups the intensity with blistering drums and a fierce, unapologetic attitude. Both tracks showcase her ability to blend commercial appeal with uncompromising rock grit—music that hits hard, leaves a mark, and clears out any lingering cobwebs in the best way possible.
