This single is out on all platforms now; it was released on January 30.

I was, unusually, without a press release for this one but I know Lorenza from a track called “Call the Devil” that was released in 2023 and has this rather exciting jungle drum style beat. That one celebrates the beast within and I still have a liking for it; it is like “Ant Music” with a poppy “ooh hoo” and a strut.

Turning to the information Benny sent me, Over the years, Wildcard has become a defining figure in pop, rock and punk, known for her fearless attitude both on and off stage and bold fashion choices. Uninterested in genre labeling, conforming or complying, and keen to let her artistry lead the way, her music encompasses everything from pop, dance, Americana, rock with blues influences and alternative rock with a rock reminiscent, while maintaining her distinctive voice and her unique vocal style.

With a gritty but versatile timbre, her signature vocals play with expressive cadences, prioritizing the deliverance of a message by using passionate and heartfelt climaxes over showcasing power, nuance or vocal embellishments.

My Review:

Musically, it took me toward Blondie with “One Way or Another.” It has a punky vocal that proclaims Lorenza is no freaky toy; she is “getting smarter, wiser.” Driven by a solid riff and a decent drum sound anchoring the beat, it’s a confident trip into modern melodic punk. The track balances grit and melody well, with an infectious energy that keeps it moving forward. There’s a raw defiance in the lyrics, matched by a vocal delivery that feels both rebellious and confident. Add in a catchy hook and a driving rhythm section, and you’ve got a track that feels equally at home in a sweaty club gig or blasting through your headphones on a restless night.

I’m also going to give a shout for that cover image, damn good. It promotes this artist well.
