I’m squeezing in a feature before I kick my boots off and switch off for Christmas! I’ll be honest, I sometimes have a few things in my in-tray that I pop to one side and a few that I can’t ignore. The coming tour of guitar hero Malina Moye this January was one I couldn’t ignore, so it became a mission to have a chat and make this an interesting read for you all this festive season.

The five date ‘Love You Bleed’/Dirty Tour with Malina Moye and Danielle Nicole commences on Wednesday 7th January 2026 at The 1865 in Southampton..

Full tour details are at the end of this piece.

I will share the press release with you now and then include my interview with Malina Moye.

Speaking about the January 2026 UK Tour, Malina Moye commented: “I’m so excited to tour the UK, I can’t wait to play my music, meet everyone and have a great time. I promise a high energy, impactful fun night.”

Flipping a fender Stratocaster upside down or a Gibson flying V, acclaimed singer-songwriter and innovative lefty guitarist, Malina Moye is an award winning, trailblazing singular presence in the rock world. She is considered one of the top guitarists of her generation by Guitar World Magazine. The genre-defying artist last two albums landed at the top of the Billboard Blues chart and was listed among the top five albums of the year on Guitar World Magazine’s greatest guitar albums list. Malina has played some of the biggest stages from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tribute concerts, Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Festival, The “I Made Rock And Roll Festival” alongside Janelle Monae, Robert Randolph, and Gary Clark Jr to name but a few, to playing some of the biggest games in US sports history, and honoring the Late Queen Of England. The influential artist blurs the musical conversation between Pop, Blues-Rock, R & B and Soul. In addition to her signature sound, her distinct Pop-Soul vocals are as powerful as her acclaimed songwriting. Constantly elevating her brand of music, fashion, and philanthropy, Malina has carved out her own lane in today’s music scene and continues to make an indelible mark on the world. Her music has been featured on TV and Film, and she has been featured as a guest artist on several Grammy nominated albums. Currently Malina is featured at the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame’s new Revolutionary Women Exhibit.

The Rock visionary’s third studio album, the genre-bending “Bad As I Wanna Be” reached no. 1 for two weeks on the Billboard Blues Chart. The album encompassed a gumbo of Funk, Rock and Soul, and Malina’s viral hit “Enough” launched the #iamenough movement with over 14 million impressions across all platforms and was played on heavy rotation on MTV. Critically acclaimed and a commercial success worldwide, the album received accolades from Billboard, People Magazine, Guitar World Magazine, and many more. Parade Magazine states that, “Moye has proven herself once again as an über-talented, electric guitar power house, and NPR’s The Current states that Malina is reinventing the Minneapolis sound. Malina is also a TV personality on two TV Series on AXS TV SPIN magazines Greatest Rock Stars and Top Ten Revealed.

Now on to my interview where we talk about Ace Frehley, the tour and Shakespeare!

2025 ended in a sad way for us as one of our favourites, Ace Frehley, passed away. We always felt Ace was one of those signature guitarists who you just know instantly when you hear him. Was he a guitar player you loved too? I felt he drew from a Rolling Stones style of playing, yours more from Albert King and the older blues style (?)

Malina: I love Ace Frehley. He definitely has a signature sound and style. He has contributed so much to music culture and is often cited as one of the original founders of KISS. Well… I think Ace definitely draws from the Blues, in fact some of his favorite guitar heroes are also mine; like Clapton, Hendrix, Paige, and Gary Moore to name a few. I also loved his vibrato and I think his solos were melodic and simple that served the songs.

Your latest album “Dirty” hit the top of the Billboard blues chart and landed on Guitar World’s “Best Guitar Albums” list. When you were making the record, did you have a moment where you thought, “Yeah… this one is different”?

Malina: I love writing songs and when I was writing “Say My Name,” I was thinking this one is different. To be honest, I was really influenced by AC/DC “Back in Black” as I was writing that song specifically. I’m just happy that a lot of people liked the album and it was my first album to have made it to Guitar World’s Top 5 Best Guitar Albums of the Year list.

You’ve shared stages with legends, appeared in Hendrix tributes, and even played the National Anthem to 80,000 football fans. Is there a performance that made you think, “This is the moment I’ll tell my grandkids about”?

Malina: You named some good ones. I think they all hold something special, but I’ll also throw in playing “God Save The Queen” for the late Queen at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Playing on top of the castle and watching the Red Arrows fly over. Oh, and I’ll never forget the bathroom! The toilet handle was made of gold in one of the bathrooms. I also loved that when we pulled up to the house everyone was outside like the TV show Downton Abbey to welcome us in. I loved it.

You’ve built your own lane — singer, songwriter, guitarist, actress, entrepreneur, and you started your own label early on. What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned about owning your art and staying independent in an industry that still likes to box artists in?

Malina: I think that now lots of artists are embracing ownership. The great thing about it is, you are right. Your creativity is the most important. You ultimately determine how and what you are doing. I started my own label because I was so different and I hate boxes. I think that we all have access to the same notes and how we tell our stories and the sound effects we like to use separates us. And the notes don’t know they are supposed to stay in boxes, so they belong everywhere. Artists are now realizing your vision, your authenticity is the most important thing. I think when you are true to yourself, the right team of people eventually show up. It may take you longer, but you are building something special and unique.

Not many musicians end up with signature guitar strings, a NASCAR anthem performance, and a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame exhibit all in the same timeline. Is there one achievement that made you stop and think, “Okay… this journey has been worth every grind”?

Malina: Yes, I have been so blessed. I appreciate every heartbreak, every win, and everything I’ve learned from this business, from this life. It all has shaped me into being the person I am today. I still feel this is only the beginning and as the quote goes, “The top of one mountain is the bottom of the next.” So let’s keep looking for moments that shape us.

We are here to talk about the UK tour – it’s heading our way in January 2026. (we will include details) – the UK is cold in January and maybe a sad song is best for winter (as Shakespeare said in “A Winter’s Tale!”) – are you looking forward to heading our way, and what can your fans expect this time round?

Malina: I love what Shakespeare said about the cold! You know I grew up in Minnesota. It’s freezing there (LOL). I can’t wait. I love the people of the UK and I hope you brave the cold to come and hang each night. It’ll be fun, energetic and a place where everyone is welcome and if you lend me your ear for an hour or so, I promise to give you everything that I got musically. And together we can fly!

Loving the Shakespeare quotes! Lastly, a fun question. It is late at night and the tour bus breaks down. The wind is howling outside and the rain lashes down. A lonely cottage (with electricity) awaits, no-one is inside. What book and what film will get you through the night?

Malina: I suddenly thought about Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, and Kate Winslet in the movie “The Holiday.” The cottage scene just came to mind (LOL). The book is easy—anything by Stephen King. He’s one of my favorite writers.

And there we end. The tour information is here and well worth heading to. I’m writing this up by listening to “Enough” and “Say My Name” – great music for a cold day, and not sad at all, just crisp, modern, melodic rock!

So, from royal rooftops to Summer Festivals, she’s carved out a career that feels both fiercely independent and impossibly expansive. And with her UK tour on the horizon, she’s ready to turn even the chilliest January night into a room glowing with groove, grit, and that unmistakable Malina spark.

So grab your coat, brave the cold, and let her show you why the next mountain is always worth climbing.
