This is my second review today. This morning I was reviewing an AOR album, very unusual for me (the Kirner and Montcorbier AOR Project one), but tonight as I sink into bed I am returning to my preferred genre of country. This review looks at the latest single from Hannah Trim, an artist who has been getting some more than decent figures recently (her song “Where I’m Meant to Be” has had 28k plus listens so far on Spotify).

Let me share the press release with you for a song that is now already out on all platforms (I have been a little slow with the review).

Hannah Trim is a UK country singer-songwriter. Inspired by her grandad’s Rock ’n’ Roll band, Hannah picked up the guitar at an early age and soon found her voice in country music.

First I will share the press review with you:

“Released on September 26th, “That Ain’t Love” is the latest single from rising star Hannah Trim, and it is an offering that showcases the English singer/songwriter’s immense growth as an artist.  building on the foundation of success laid by debut single “Where I’m Meant To Be.”

The South West UK native has shown in the past several years that she is easily one of the most exciting and naturally gifted country artists to be emerging onto the ever-growing scene, and this release further establishes her place within the industry whilst further building towards future success.

With “That Ain’t Love,” Hannah Trim delivers a scintillating track that delivers some home truths to a woman about her self-worth, and what she should expect from somebody who is meant to love her, and is a powerful reminder not to settle for less.

Speaking about the single, Hannah says: “That Ain’t Love’ is about being real and cutting through the noise,” Hannah explains. “It’s one woman telling another the hard truth — that if someone isn’t willing to fight for you, then it isn’t love, no matter how much you want it to be.”

My review:

When asked why I like country music best, I tend to say that it has everything to do with the storytelling, the performance energy and the honesty. I do enjoy the look and the fun, but it is the camaraderie and the identity of the new wave of British country music that makes me proud to be a part of it.

“That Ain’t Love” actually opens up in a haunting style before slipping quickly into one of those country tracks that gets the crowd swaying and enjoying singing the lyrics along with the singer. It’s a song of girl unity and of picking yourself up again. It’s country blues, a gently swaying tune for the Autumn season. Hannah Trim continues to carve out her own space in the UK country scene, and “That Ain’t Love” proves she’s more than ready to step up alongside the best of them. It’s the kind of track that lingers long after the last note, with its blend of honesty, grit, and singalong charm. Country fans — add this one to your playlist now
