Here I am, your late night reviewer! I’m fine, thanks for asking…and I felt like dipping into something new before bed. The single that I have chosen from the intray is the new one by Liam Cromby. I know of Liam from his role in We are the Ocean but I have never heard his solo material. But, no time like the present.

Liam Cromby, best known as the former frontman and songwriter of UK rock band We Are The Ocean, launched his solo career in December 2023 with his debut album “What Can I Trust, If I Can’t Trust True Love.” Blending the Americana sound with emotionally rich lyrics and soulful vocals, the record earned early acclaim for its raw emotional depth and classic storytelling. Liam continues his musical journey with the release of “Whole Damn Life,” the monumental first single and title track of his highly anticipated second album. Fresh off a successful solo tour this past summer, Liam reunites with his band The Morning Star, to deliver a powerful live set heading into 2026 — debuting the upcoming record, alongside We Are The Ocean fan favourites.

Liam comments:

“Whole Damn Life was one of the final songs written for my second album, and it became the heartbeat of the whole record. Autobiographical at its core, it’s one of the rawest and most honest songs I’ve ever written. It carries a message of learning to be kinder to ourselves and that embracing healing. It felt only right for it to become the album’s title track.”

My review: It’s always interesting when you hear music from an artist for the first time, and the expectation is for one thing…and you find something else! Of course, that’s fine. What I found here was an uplifting rock/folk vibe. A story set with a heavy slow vibe and a chorus that moved me into that west end theatre feel, a song for a musical not yet written! It’s a solid vocal performance and an emotive connection between singer and song.

In Whole Damn Life Liam Cromby takes a heartfelt leap forward in his solo journey, blending the grit of his rock roots with a soulful, Americana touch. It’s a song that feels both cinematic and personal — a slow-burning story carried by a strong vocal and an undercurrent of hope. As the title track for his upcoming album, it sets the tone beautifully: honest, emotive, and quietly powerful.
