“Phone is ringing, oh my God

Demons callin’, give it up

Losing sleep, this shit is gonna hurt

Swallow pain and medicine but (holy shit)

That’s gonna fuck me up…”

Okay – this is interesting. I’ll paint you the picture. It’s late at night, rain blasting the window pane, baby teething and yelling, the cat is hiding under its blanket (don’t blame it) and the M & S ready meal was okay without rocking my night.

Then I dip into a single review I promised to get done for a band I hadn’t really heard yet and…

But first, let me tell you what Endgame have to say about themselves:

“Endgame fearlessly explores the depths of a dystopian future, painting a vivid soundscape of a world where emotions are forbidden. They unveil the struggle of individuals and channel the creativity into music to rebel against a society that’s living a monochromatic life. Melodies and lyrics ignite the rebellious spirit of all the people who can’t stand these rules, leading the world to a place of hidden passion and raw emotions.”

So dystopian is interesting and a band that can use the word psychotomimetic in their lyrics has to be worth a listen!

The single is out on release on all major platforms for your listening pleasure now, it was released November 21.

My review:

I was not disappointed, this was well worth a listen. It is kind of an old house in a storm, haunted footsteps on old stone and the trees bending to listen around the old asylum – yes that kind of feeling! Musically it was grungy, touching the Seattle sound with an acidic attitude in the lyrics. The rhythm contained a melodic hook within the chorus and the guitar sound was heavy. The press I received called it cinematic and I would go with that, cinematic as in a darker side of one of the latter Batman films.

Endgame leave you standing in the doorway of that storm-battered house long after the final note fades, wondering whether you should switch on a light… or run. Habitual Burnout manage to bottle a kind of beautiful panic, the sort that lingers in your chest and whispers for another replay. This is a band carving out their own dystopian groove, and honestly? I’m here for it.
