January 16 saw the release of Queen of Spades new single “Committed,” it is out on all platforms now. Nothing like a wet day in the north of England to turn the mind to loud guitars and some hard hitting rock vocals, so this one had to be grabbed from the in-tray!
The Netherlands seems to be the home of some kick ass rock at the moment, the indie rock scene there is turning out some great bands; we covered Roundabouts a little while back and Queen of Spades are an established group who I knew from an earlier single called “I’m the Devil in Disguise” from 2021, which I remember liking at the time.
“Committed is a statement of rebellion and intent. Let’s lift a fist for women being ourselves, something I give a massive nod to those girls in Iran standing up for right now – for exactly that right.
I will share the press release with you and then turn attention toward the review,
This track is about choosing yourself and your dreams in life when no one else understands, you’re blocking out the noise, and are staying locked in on your purpose no matter who doubts you. “Committed” captures the mindset of self-belief, independence, and relentless drive. It’s for anyone who’s done seeking approval, done living for others, and ready to move forward on their own terms. With raw lyrics and an unstoppable energy, Committed speaks to the grind in life, the judgment from others and the confidence it takes to say this is my time. No control.
No permission. Just focus, ambition, and self-loyalty.
Singer Peggy explains: ‘COMMITTED is a song I wrote for myself. It’s a reminder of who I am and where I’m going. It comes from constantly being questioned, doubted, and boxed in for being a female singer in a heavy music oriented band. From hearing things like “If you have a child, you’ll quit the band, right?” or “Ballad songs suit you better.” From being told directly or indirectly, to shrink my dreams or adjust them to make others more comfortable.
This song is my answer to all of that.
Committed is about choosing my band, keep chasing my passion and about my vision without apology. It’s about staying focused when people doubt you, staying loud when they expect you to quiet down and staying true when others think they know what’s best for your life.
I’m not seeking approval.
I’m not living for anyone else.
I’m committed to myself, my band and the goals we have.
This track is for anyone who’s tired of being told what they should want and ready to
chase what they actually do.
I will now turn to my review:

“Committed” is delivering a modern indie-hard rock sound, guitars hitting a strong riff and the distorted harmony style vocals engaging. I played it back-to-back twice, turning the volume up the second time lol.
If you dip into their catalog then you will get a strong, slick heavy sound. I’m going to give a nod toward “High Heels” as well that I definitely liked and slipped onto my favourites for driving. “High Heels” has that nod toward commercial rock radio and the road ahead, “Committed” is more layered. They both deliver a thunder in the drums (especially “High Heels”) and some hard-hitting guitar work (especially “Committed”).
“Committed” is a no-compromise slice of modern hard rock that hits with intent and refuses to blink.
This is self-belief set to distortion, built for volume knobs and open roads.
🔥 Add it to your playlist, crank it loud, and tag the friend who needs this energy today.
Next up for the band is working on releasing their songs and album in 2026/2027.
