Rebecca Richards is one of those artists who have been with us from the start, and our start kind of collided with her starting off! Since then Rebecca has been doing rather well. I had a dip into her Spotify and noted 12k + listening figures now for her singles and with an increasing back catalogue she has a greater range of music to draw upon. I would note how good her January 2025 release “Aces High” was (I’ve popped it at the end of the review), she pulled a very different feeling track out of the bag there and she is increasingly developing her sound and delivery.
Her new single is out on September 26, 2025, so unusually for me I am ahead of myself (my Summer break must have revitalised me!).
The press pack on Rebecca tells me “Award Winning, Radio BBC Wales A List, singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Pontypool in South Wales, Rebecca Richards writes songs that are instantly relatable to the everyday. She sings “of love and life and luck” and creates that sweet spot of unique yet familiar feeling melodies – you’ll be humming along in no time. Her love of music is heavily steeped in country, infused with dashes of blues with a sprinkling of rock and folk.
Rebecca says “ I was walking past a bank of those grim green chemical toilets at The Long Road Festival when I saw a couple kissing in a moment of pure tenderness. It was so beautiful and unexpected in that unusual setting that I nearly broke my neck staring as I walked past! They weren’t young and so, I was left with two unshakeable and lingering thoughts:
- What was their story?
- I wish someone would Kiss Me like that!
So I wrote this song….” Recorded in a Nashville Style (everybody playing at once) with Inspire Music Studios in Staffordshire, brothers Tom and Matt Bishop produced, mixed and mastered “Kiss Me” with musicians Sam Martin and Toby Wilson.”
My brief thought on that is that I am less of a fan of public kissing, I’m more – “get a room” lol. However, I am there to be persuaded and pull up a chair and pair of headphones. I am ready to listen if not watch!

My review:
“Kiss Me” is a youthful song for summer, it is a dreamy country and sings of summer in your hair. As we approach the colder days of Autumn and there is a hint of winter’s chill in the wind, the song takes us back to summer days of youth and romance. How fast time goes your reviewer reflects…As a song this is Rebecca showing a strong vocal in the country vein and you can’t help but smile.
It’s a track that doesn’t try to overcomplicate things, and that simplicity is what makes it work so well. Rebecca captures a fleeting moment and wraps it in melody, giving us something warm to hold onto. As her catalogue grows, it’s clear she’s steadily carving her own space in the UK country scene. “Kiss Me” is Rebecca Richards at her most effortless – a reminder that sometimes the smallest moments make the biggest songs.
