The new single from Robbie Harte is out on November 3. I have always felt that Robbie is a singer for the spring, but let’s see if she can turn her mind to the season of mellow fruitfulness and lighten up a dark late Autumn evening.

For those who would like to know, In 2022, Robbie is based in New York and is one of those international country stars that I always enjoy covering here at the magazine. She won the ISSA ‘Songwriter of the Year’ award and ‘Single of the Year’ award for her single “Outside My Window.” In 2023, she received nominations for the Josie Music Awards and the Who’s Who Country Music Awards. Most recently, in 2024, she was honored with multiple nominations, including “Rising Star – Country,” and won the Josie Music Award for “Music Video of the Year – Performance Focused” for her video “Sticks and Stones,” presented at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.

I can share the press release with you and in it Robbie speaks about her connection with the track:

In this personally vulnerable new track, Harte navigates the complexities of familial relationships, particularly her connection to her estranged father. Moving onward and no longer focusing on inherited traits that once troubled her, she celebrates the qualities that shape her character, inspired by her mother’s unwavering love and resilience.

“This song represents a hard-fought internal battle,” Harte explains. “For many years, I struggled with feelings of inadequacy, shame, and an ugliness that was difficult to articulate. A pivotal moment came when someone pointed out my strong resemblance to my father, and it made me realize how intertwined my perception of myself was with traits that were beyond my control.”

“My Mama’s Daughter” marks a significant evolution in Harte’s musical journey, showcasing her growth and new perspective. Finally at peace with herself, she reflects on her upbringing and the lessons imparted by her mother. The song serves as a powerful reminder that our identities are shaped by both our appearances and more importantly, the values given to us by those who care most for us.

“Changed my hair, my life, my name

But you can’t outrun the blood in your veins…”

My Review:

I love a great country track as when they are good they connect real emotion in the story, a hook and melody that carry you along with a sway and a smile. This one is exactly that, you sway along and feel the late evening sun setting over the horizon as the music carries you through the moment (this is me feeling poetic!). I’d also say this track delivers that clever moment when the pain of the story is beautifully masked by the melody and delivery. Well done Robbie, this one really deserves radio play and you’ve cheered up my evening nicely.

In summary: Robbie Harte returns this November with “My Mama’s Daughter,” a heartfelt new single that turns the chill of late autumn into something warm and hopeful. Known for her award-winning blend of sincerity and strength, Harte opens up about family, identity, and self-acceptance in a track that’s as honest as it is uplifting. With a melody that sways like a sunset breeze and lyrics that touch the soul, Robbie proves once again that country music hits hardest when it tells the truth.
