Savannah Gardner is a California Cowgirl currently based in London. I am surprised that this is the first release by her that we have featured, as she is very much under the umbrella of the artists we cover here.

This is her second single of 2025 and it follows on from her debut album, “Recovering Good Girl,” which was released in September 2024. I am actually reviewing two tracks from the album here alongside the new single, as I am giving a little push for you to listen to these two!

Savannah Gardner was nominated for the Live Act of the Year award with the UK Americana Music Association and she has played a number of festivals, such as Glastonbury, C2C London, Maverick and Red Rooster.

The release date for the single is July 10.

Savannah tells us “

“Sometimes I dream I’m a recording artist at Sun Studios in Memphis, getting my start along with Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. Other times I imagine I’m at Woodstock singing along to Janis Joplin’s “Ball and Chain” and The Who’s “My Generation.”  I look around at my friends in their fringe jackets, western shirts, & rockabilly outfits and know they feel the same. Maybe we were born in the wrong generation?”

The review: “Born in the Wrong Generation” was the first song I have heard by Savannah, and I loved it! It took me over to have a listen to the album.

“Baby I’m just longing for some anarchy

I’m begging to be seen by somebody….”

Instantly I am taken into those country rock vocals, and the song has a pirate swagger through my headphones. The song tells of days gone by that we wish we could return to, a yearning for a different time, for youth and dreams. It never changes!

Having listened to this, I headed off to have a dip into “Recovering Good Girl.” I’m not doing a whole album, but a couple of tracks I couldn’t resist having a word about.

“Lone Rider” has this distinctive gravelly vocal, with some great vocal harmonies and gentle melody. It took me to that lonely western town and the lone rider coming through the desert out there, but the bar was enticing and a song was playing. I like interesting tracks and this connected nicely.

“High Desert Memory” is a load of fun, a hoedown in a ghost town. It is a song in a hurry, classy country Americana with loaded cowboy boots and a drink waiting on the bar!

So: If you’re not already riding shotgun on the Savannah Gardner train, it’s time to saddle up. With this new single and the gems tucked into her debut album, she’s blazing a trail through the Americana scene like a tumbleweed on a mission. She might say she was born in the wrong generation, but with tunes like these, she’s exactly where she belongs—turning dusty memories into fresh, foot-stomping anthems.
