I have spent a somewhat annoying day stripping wallpaper from a back bedroom while listening to the American politics show on the radio. Do you remember the Fun Boys Three song “The Lunatics have taken over the Asylum?” Yes…that just about sums up my radio experience today! Anyway, moving on from there, I had promised Benny to have a listen to the very lovely Ervin Munir and his new single “Did I Miss It,” out everywhere on the 25th of October. This new release follows Ervin’s highly praised last single, “My Heart.” Ervin is one of an increasing number of musicians that we cover now a days, and its really great to see his music widening out far beyond his borders and gaining a greater audience. I’ll evidence this with 33k+ listener figures now on Spotify for “Going Nowhere.” I’d argue that Ervin is definitely going somewhere.
Turning first to the press kit, “Did I Miss It?” investigates the surprise and other emotions that come with falling in love rapidly, particularly after just one kiss. Ervin sings with honesty about the flurry of emotions and the excitement associated with a newly blossoming romance, something that many listeners will relate to immediately (although as I get older it becomes more of a distant memory, lol)!

Still with the press information pack, the track features Ervin’s trademark acoustic guitar tones and electric guitar delivered with passion by Aeron Z Jones. Additionally, Ervin’s standout vocal performance showcases his talent, making this song a true reflection of his creativity and personal experience. With recent support from BBC Radio, Ervin aims to extend his reach in the folk scene, and with this release, he is likely to touch many hearts.
Now on to my review.
From the off, I do like the single cover for this one; really interesting art work. The single that is forming my late-night listening is underpinned by this guitar melody, more pop than folk. The track is moving towards radio commerciality, the 2.38 guitar harmonies being lovely to listen to and after a hard day, this put a smile on my face. It is an easy-listening release that has wide appeal and a nicely positive message in these troubled times.
And we hope you liked the review, dear reader! If you did, please check out the other pages of the magazine; we have many great features, merchandise, editorials and even poetry!
