Laura Evans is an artist we have had the pleasure of featuring here at Rock the Joint Magazine a couple of times. She’s also an artist who just seems to be gaining ever more attention from all around us!
This country/blues artist released her new single ‘Superman’ – her first upbeat love song after years of emotional ballads. The Welsh singer-songwriter wrote it about her husband, who friends nicknamed “Superman” because he looked like Clark Kent.
Laura’s having a breakout 2025 with extensive BBC Radio 2 airplay from Cerys Matthews and Owain Wyn Evans, over 3 million Spotify streams, and BBC Radio 2 playlist addition. Her new single is from her sophomore album “Out of the Dark” (out in October), followed by her biggest UK headline tour in November including London’s Omeara on Nov 30th.

So much to look forward to, and the new single will be a taste of things to come, so what does it taste like?
The single was actually released on August 8, so it is out on all platforms now. Laura tells us she wasn’t in need of saving but she’s ready to take his hand and just fly away. The song has an upbeat country rock feel, a strong bass feel and plenty of positivity right through it. I think we all need a Superman in our lives, I know I have mine, but he’s only 8 months old atm! It’s funny because although the press release noted her ‘years of emotional ballads’ I associate Laura Evans with stomping country line dancing hits (“I’m Alright”)! So, for me, this one slotted into that groove nicely, Laura back with her high heels on, making her way through the night.
With ‘Superman,’ Laura Evans shows a fresh side to her songwriting while keeping the hooks and heart that have won her so many fans. It’s confident, catchy, and perfectly timed for a year that’s already shaping up to be her biggest yet. From heartfelt ballads to high-energy anthems, Laura’s got the cape now.
“Baby, I could be your Lois Lane I’m gonna hold on tight, fight your kryptonite Coz, you make my world a better place I don’t know if this was part of your plan But I think you might be my, Superman…”
