This is exciting, I’m looking forward to this one. I have been slogging away in the kitchen for two hours making meals (long story lol) but finally the household is asleep and I am ready to dip into the new single by the always raucous Lorenza Wildcard. No pusillanimity here she just happens to be one of the UK scene’s most dynamic figures and we spoke to her in the Summer of 2025 in a great interview that I will link below – my favorite line from her in that interview was: “I’m punk enough to ignore some rules and glam enough to do it in heels.”

Have a dip into my favourite track of hers, ‘Call the Devil,’ and you’ll see what I mean. That one has been on my playlist for a while now, it has a cool beat and those “ooh hoo” touches before a hard-driving edge that hints the devil lies within…it’s neat and really well structured.

I will share the press release and then share my thoughts on the new single with you.

“Target on My Back” is a high-energy (158 BPM), attitude-driven indie rock/punk track built around pounding drums, gritty layered guitars, and a relentless groove. The vocal is raw, powerful, and unfiltered, delivering a hook-heavy chorus and explosive post-choruses that keep the momentum surging.

Blending punk urgency with anthemic indie-rock energy and post-punk grit, the track reflects the signature Volthemic sound fans associate with Lorenza Wildcard — electrified, emotional, and made for loud, high-impact playlists.”

My Review:

The single is out March 16th 2026, so is on all main streaming platforms now.

The new single opens with a heavy riff and driving drums – loads of sounds blended into the vocal that blurs punk and Kate Bush somehow! The track is imaginative, and has the usual energy – dancing on the tables, kicking over the chairs and generally bouncing along! It has an infectious quality for sure. It follows on from “Tell It To The Gods,” which was rougher around the edges; this one leans more toward late-night radio.

Lorenza noted how “On a creative level, I like to evolve. When a track feels ready, I don’t want to sit on it—I want to let it out into the world. It’s like a creation that wants to breathe on its own.”

“This single is certainly doing that, and if it were on the menu it’d be a Mexican tortilla — spicy with a real kick.”

If you like your indie rock loud, slightly dangerous and dripping with attitude, Lorenza Wildcard has you squarely in her sights. And judging by this track, she isn’t missing.
