It has been a little while since we heard new music from Rebecca Richards, but here is a song to really welcome 2025 and blow those thoughts of winter storms away. It is released on January 31 on all platforms.

I’m told that this song was inspired by overhearing a conversation in a bar. “Aces are High” tells the tale of two sisters, born into a family of violence and abuse, with each taking a different path into adulthood. This footstomping banger will keep you hooked on your heart. The twist of revenge by the woman who triumphed over adversity. Rebecca loved collaborating with Stef Judd (Flatland Kings) at The Stable Studio, Norfolk, to create a rich, full Nashville style sound .“I loved creating this yarn. It’s a world away from my previous releases and it was fun to use my imagination to tell a tale of a strong, independent woman embracing rebellion, taking control and wreaking revenge.”

My review: At its best, country music is storytelling; just have a listen to Dolly Parton and you get some great tales. This is a much tougher-edged song by Rebecca and it works very well indeed; it is edgier and reaches out to a modern country audience who want to have their country music fully loaded. This is her best release so far and it is current, commercial country radio material. Basically, if you have some mustard in the house, this track will slice and dice it—never mind cut it! If you have the desire for some country tales with a dance along harmony for a chorus, then stream it on release.

As a finishing point, to keep us improving the magazine, we really do need your support, and if you can go to the “support us” button and buy us a coffee or follow us, it helps us feel appreciated and keep improving the magazine.

You can stream music from Rebecca here.

And we have popped an earlier track from her below (which is nothing like the new single, but is a bright tune!)
