I have been really looking forward to reviewing this, but Benny and Mark don’t allow reviews going up too early so I have had to sit on it! I just couldn’t wait any longer however, it has been so grim in the world that I needed an album of escapism and where better to escape into the music of one of the most exciting country rock performers on the UK circuit in 2026. We have covered Georgia in the magazine and she is one of those artists we predicted would be one to watch – see how right we often are!
The Press Release:
BCMA Female Vocalist of the Year nominee, NMG Americana Artist of the Year nominee, and multiple Country iTunes No.1 artist, Georgia Nevada is set to release her highly anticipated debut album, “BackFire,” on the 13th of March 2026. A nine-track collection of dynamic and textured vocal performances and lyricism, rooted in the Country, Rock and Blues sounds that drive a Georgia Nevada song.
“BackFire” represents a defining moment in her career, showcasing an independent artist unafraid to challenge conventions. The album includes the Planet Rock debut, Blues-soaked Country Rock single, ‘PinkCadillac’ as well as ‘CookieCutter’ -a song about not conforming to other people’s expectations of who you should be.
Speaking on the record, Georgia explains: “The songs on the “BackFire” album largely came from moments in my life -whether it be a memory of driving through Memphis or being cc’d into an email I was never supposed to see- these moments all sparked a reaction. I’ve unpacked those feelings in this album and realized that a lot of them aren’t just unique to me, they’re emotional reflexes we all have at some point in our lives.”

My Review:
“Pink Cadillac” opens with stomping Dolly Parton style country rock. Georgia instantly slips into gear and drives to Memphis Tennessee on those dusty highways. We have some guitars slipping into a mean riff and vocals soaring. It is a terrific opener and my colleague Lorraine reviewed this when it was released as a single, she said “I anticipated great country dance, with rocking vocals, I was not disappointed. Georgia tells a tale for those dusty highways, the devil and a guitar in tow! I’m sure this one will kick the hell out of the live stage soon and it is the newest installment of Georgia Nevada’s upcoming debut album, “BackFire” – I cannot disagree!
“My Town, Too” came out as a single and I grabbed it from the intray. At the time I said “This is a little monster, a quick blast of line dancing verve and a determined lyric that this girl lays a claim to this town too! The song does indeed blend country with rock and is built for those festival stages over the summer. It’s as much legal fun as you can get in just under three minutes! “ It was great to revisit it actually, it has to be there on the live set!
“Who He Says He’ll Be” is a rocky track with a nice guitar and drum sound. Not as immediate as the opening two tracks, but I liked the little harmony touches and the chorus is strong. It is one of those that you listen to a couple of times and it grows on you. I’ll visit again later.
“Damaged Goods” concerns ‘the empty promise of a good time’ – it is a song delivered with emotion and a crackle in the connection. It is a form of country ballad, a tale told at a bar with a whisky and a smile. It was one that I took to instantly, a strong piece of songwriting, great drum sound. All round thumbs up for this one.
“Work With ME” is straight down the lane country rock with a story to tell. It slots nicely into the mid album, and the chorus again kills nicely. It keeps the standard and my connection to the album high, I’m enjoying myself!
“Cookie Cutter” has an interesting title. It opens up with a throbbing guitar and a strut from a girl in her cowboy boots and skirt! You need a warm Southern night and a firefly for this one. If it was a drink, think coke and bourbon on ice!
“Stones Throw” rocks along. Georgia certainly has rock in her arsenal, she can kick some ass with the best of them and this would slip nicely into the set list for many rock artists out there.
“Guilty” sounds like a movie soundtrack for a country noir movie (as yet unmade) – it belongs in a Bonnie and Clyde style shoot out – at 2.41 it is a little rocket of a track and one of favourites here. It will find its way onto my playlist and I am sure commercial radio would play it, they should anyway! A little belter of a track.
“Nowhere Town” closes us down with a traditional and fun country track. It takes me to the hoe-down as opposed to the bar! Time for a dance, grab your partner and never mind that your husband is out with Juliet. We may all have secrets in that closet, forget them and have a dance in this nowhere town!
What “BackFire” proves more than anything is that Georgia Nevada isn’t just another name on the UK country circuit — she’s one of the artists helping to define it in 2026. There’s grit, hooks, storytelling and just enough rock attitude to make sure these songs won’t stay confined to headphones for long. Expect to hear more than a few of these blasting across festival fields this summer. If you like your country with a little dust on the boots and a bit of gasoline in the engine, this record is absolutely worth the ride.
