Rock the Joint Magazine is an independent online music magazine dedicated to celebrating great music and the people who create it. We cover rock, blues, country, Americana, jazz and the very best independent artists from around the world.

Since March 2022 we’ve been interviewing musicians, reviewing new releases and helping talented artists reach new audiences, our readership grows by the year. If you’re passionate about music and enjoy sharing your opinions, we’d love to welcome you to our growing team.

You don’t need a journalism degree or years of experience. If you have a genuine passion for music, enjoy writing and are reliable, we’ll happily consider your application.

Our Editorial Style

At Rock the Joint Magazine we believe music journalism should inform, entertain and inspire.

We don’t use star ratings or scores. Instead, we write thoughtful, honest reviews that help readers decide whether an album or performance is right for them.

We value individuality and encourage our writers to develop their own voice while maintaining professionalism, accuracy and respect for the artists we cover.

What We Ask From Our Contributors

We don’t expect huge commitments.

All we ask is that you:

  • Have a good standard of written English (we will edit and check your work).
  • Meet agreed deadlines whenever possible.
  • Communicate with the editorial team.
  • Treat artists, readers and fellow contributors with courtesy and respect.
  • Share our enthusiasm for discovering and supporting great music.

Whether you contribute once a month or more regularly, every article helps our magazine continue to grow.

Rock the Joint Magazine is an independent publication run through a genuine love of music.

At present all contributor roles are voluntary, and we are unable to offer payment. We appreciate the time and commitment given by every member of our team and hope that, as the magazine continues to grow, opportunities will expand in the future.

In return, contributors gain published work, valuable experience, industry contacts and the opportunity to become part of a respected independent music publication. We can offer references for students looking toward university applications for journalism courses etc & if you are interested in seeing live shows we can supply press passes (you have to arrange your own transport) to gigs in your area.
