Ervin Munir releases his new single “My Heart” on September 9.

And it has been fired on over for me to review a week ago so I have been a bit tardy, but things have been pretty busy. It’s been back from holiday; get children ready to return to school and sort out the bathroom! And sorting out the bathroom decoration for me meant playing lots of T-Rex (I mean, “Life’s A Gas” is wonderful for decorating to) and Myley Cyrus. It then meant sitting down when evening arrived to catch up with Ervin Munir, an artist who has been really busy recently releasing a range of singles that have moved from folk to folk rock. He has been working hard, playing gigs and raising profile as an independent artist and singer-songwriter.

So, here is my review for the new single.

Ervin Munir has been releasing singles regularly since October 2022 and his debut album, “Broken Compass,” was released in December 2023. Mostly recorded in his own studio (except “Carolynn,” which was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London), this is a beautifully put-together album. A second album is due for release late 2024 or early 2025. He intends to continue working with producer Aeron Z Jones on this.

This new single is a song about risking your heart, full of layered harmony singing, pleasing melody, built-up rhythms and a wide commercial appeal. Actually, of all the songs I have heard from Ervin, this one has the most open commercial touch, a guitar that begins with a simple acoustic feel but then switches to a lilting rockier touch toward the 2 minute mark. It is catchy and has an airwave touch. As Ervin also has a band called Cutting the Mustard, I always feel so tempted to ask if this release does, and I would say this clearly slices through that mustard nicely.

As a finishing point, to keep us improving the magazine, we really do need your support, and if you can go to the “support us” button and buy us a coffee or follow us, it helps us feel appreciated and keep improving the magazine.
