I had forgotten that one of the editors here, Benny, really loves these guys and reviewed their last single, “Blood Curse” (here). I know less about them, although I instantly loved the image! I would just note that that single “Blood Curse” has over 27k listens now on Spotify, a solidly good sign from my experience! I listened to that track first and was taken into Bon Jovi (circa “Blaze of Glory”) mixed with Hammer House of Horror!  There was a question among us reviewers here on who did this one, me (I do rock and blues) or Lorraine (she does the countryside), as the band has their share of either influence; basically the music leans to rock and the image leans to country.

Here is the press information that I got:

British rock trio FangSlinger return again with their fourth, most unapologetically fun single to’ date—”Bloodsucker Blues.” With its high-octane blast of gothic-western swagger, this track bites down hard with vampiric lust, rock ‘n’ roll rebellion and a smirk that says it knows exactly what it’s doing.

With tongue planted firmly in cheek and a theatrical flair reminiscent of a hell-bound ‘Grease,’ “Bloodsucker Blues” is a southern-fried, blood-stained romp built for fans of Black Stone Cherry, Dorothy and Guns’ N’ Roses. The kind of track that makes you want to kick open swinging doors and throw your hat at the moon. Seductive, sinister and soaked in sleaze, the genre-fusing comrades FangSlinger (Vocals), BloodRose (Vocals/Percussion) and HangMan (Guitar/Vocals) invite you to lose yourself in the thrill of the hunt.

Produced by Daniel Fox and Mixed by James Pinder, “Bloodsucker Blues” (released on 6th May 2025) is available on all major digital platforms now.

My review:

This single opens with a heavy riff and a commercial melody. Commercial rock radio should be playing this now. It had touches of Kiss in their “Asylum” era, mixed with a belting guitar and drum combo. I liked the mix of vocal leads and the whole song oozed rock class and the urgency of a band who know they are making an impression. I don’t know about their ongoing plans, but I’d love to catch these guys on the Summer festival circuit. The video is good fun too; it takes you quickly into the world of FangSlinger and I can really see why Benny likes them. I’m going to be watching out for them too. Watch on for some melodic, vampiric fun.
