It is a very hot Saturday, and I was being lazy but then I decided to do some work on the magazine. I have sorted out a ‘Meet the Team’ page – it has only taken us four years to put together, but we now have a page with our pictures and a little bio for each of us (here). This actually came from various people saying we should do more to promote ourselves, but I don’t think any of us have really seen the need. Blue the cat still believes he should be Editor-in-Chief, although his latest contribution involved attempting to chew through the cable of my laptop mouse. Whether this was a protest against my workload or simply feline quality control remains unclear.
Enough of that! On to the review of the day and it is the turn of Lorenza Wildcard to release a new single called “The Other Side.” Lorenza Wildcard is an artist we have followed here over the last few years and I will share the press release with you before the review:
“The Other Side” pairs thunderous rock instrumentation with themes of obsession, conviction and belonging.
Driven by pounding drums, heavy distorted guitar riffs, a relentless bassline and gritty, raw-edged vocals, the 158 bpm track charges forward with mounting intensity before erupting into a defiant climax.
Lyrically, the song explores the point where a calling stops feeling like a choice and becomes a necessity. It captures a mindset shaped by exhaustion, doubt and resistance, yet sustained by an unwavering belief that there is somewhere on the other side where you belong.
“Raw, urgent and uncompromising, “The Other Side” is a song about refusing to turn back when everything tells you to.”

My Review:
Release date June 27, 2026 so out on all platforms now.
This is a rock song made for those summer festivals where you want to pour water over your head and jump around with the crowd. The chorus is catchy and perfect for commercial radio, especially when you’re driving along with the windows down. The guitar break at the 1:47 mark is particularly emotive, kicking the door down with real purpose before the song powers on. It is a track built on musical texture, infectious hooks and sing-along lyrics that stay with you long after it has finished. Wildcard’s vocal has enough grit and conviction to carry the song’s themes without ever sounding forced.
Not every song has to reinvent rock music. Sometimes it simply has to make you want to turn the volume up, hit repeat and smile. “The Other Side” does exactly that.
