We are in a heatwave, I mean…it is mid-summer and it is hot – whatever will occur next? Aside from the heatwave and the need for me to take a watering can to my plants now that evening is turning to night, I am dipping into reviewing a new single from Noir Addiction.

Here is the press release to start matters off:

Alternative-industrial rockers Noir Addiction return with their new single “Money For The Honey”, a vibrant blend of driving guitars, rhythmic synths and infectious melodies. Combining alternative rock energy with darkwave and industrial influences, the track pairs an irresistible rhythmic pulse with lyrics that explore attraction, desire and the complicated motivations that draw people together.

Driven by a strong melodic pulse and an unforgettable refrain, “Money For The Honey” examines attraction, longing and the expectations people bring into relationships. Moving between playful provocation and genuine vulnerability, the song combines guitar-driven energy with electronic flourishes to create a sound that feels both contemporary and unmistakably Noir Addiction.

Emerging with a raw, industrial-tinged soul, Noir Addiction is a powerhouse trio that harnesses a dark, heavy aesthetic against a backdrop of classic rock ’n’ roll grit. Founded by Sonny Lanegan, who handles vocals, guitars, synthesizers, and programming, the band is rounded out by drummer Roberto Catanzaro and Nessie Zorba on keyboards and percussion. A seasoned musician and producer, Lanegan’s creative vision was shaped in Los Angeles’ high-octane music scene, where he honed his experimental style as singer-songwriter for White Pulp and co-founder of The Dead Good.

“‘Money For The Honey’ is about the things we chase when we know they probably won’t give us what we’re looking for,” says Sonny Lanegan. “There’s desire in it, there’s attraction, but there’s also that feeling of searching for something more. The song plays with those contradictions and leaves room for people to find their own meaning in it.”

“The phrase ‘Love me for the money, taste me for the honey’ became a kind of centerpiece for the song. It’s playful on the surface, but it also hints at the different reasons people connect with each other and the expectations we bring into relationships.”

Based in Italy, Noir Addiction continues to carve out a distinctive space in the alternative scene, blending dark rock, industrial textures and electronic elements with a strong melodic sensibility. Their sound thrives on contrasts—energetic yet atmospheric, modern yet rooted in classic alternative influences creating music that resonates with both rock and electronic audiences.

As of 19/06/2026, “Money For The Honey” will be available across digital platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp.

The full album “Pretty Things Don’t Last” will be released on July 16 via SoulPunx Records.

Noir Addiction will be touring in support of this EP throughout 2026

My Review:

Spotify presents “Money for the Honey” alongside two additional tracks, so I am reviewing all three. Combined, they last just under 13 minutes.

“Money for the Honey” opens with an industrial pulse blended with touches of New Romantic style and a darker edge. The melodies really come alive in the chorus, making it surprisingly catchy while retaining an edgy electronic beat. I genuinely liked this one. If I were walking the streets at night, this would make a fine musical accompaniment. It has strong cinematic qualities and even reminded me a little of Priest. A very strong start to the EP.

“How She’s Got It” is a heavier, slower piece with a healthy dose of angst thrown into the mix. The chorus has real bite, while the pounding drum beat gives the song plenty of weight. It brought Depeche Mode to mind, albeit with a more acidic, industrial flavour.

“Serve Me Some Crime” is another very decent track. It feels like the perfect soundtrack for a late-night drive down an open motorway. I listened to it with a cold Dr Pepper packed with ice on a hot summer evening, and it was easy to melt into the synth-driven energy. This is a song that almost seems to be searching for a sci-fi film soundtrack.

Noir Addiction may look like they have stepped straight out of a futuristic dystopian nightmare, but behind the dramatic image is a band with genuine songwriting ability and a knack for memorable hooks. This three-track release blends industrial rock, synth textures and dark alternative influences into something that feels both cinematic and surprisingly accessible. It certainly caught me off guard—in the best possible way—and if this is a taste of what “Pretty Things Don’t Last” has to offer, then it has definitely piqued my curiosity.
