It proved impossible to resist a review for the new single by The Word 66. How can we resist a band that told us they were here to “spread love, joy, peace and salvation” as their goal when we spoke to them last? The link to that interview is at the end. My Review:
The single is out August 28, 2026 on all platforms.
The track leads with a heavy drum sound, the rhythm section already working in heavy gear. It opens with a strut and then comes that punchy, Graham Bonnet-style vocal.
It is a straight-ahead power-rock track, driving down that classic-rock lane with a strong melodic chorus, plenty of fist-pumping energy and, naturally, a message of hope and faith. The mid-track guitar break is a little belter and, if this was a drink, it would be a Bacardi and Coke made with dark rum – bringing a little extra spice and an aged richness to the mix.
There is nothing particularly complicated about “Heed the Words”, and that is rather the point. The Word 66 know exactly what they want this song to do: hit hard, deliver its message and leave you with a chorus that hangs around after the music has stopped. It is old-school rock ’n’ roll in spirit, but with a message that is decidedly their own.
For a band whose stated mission is to put a little light into the darkness, The Word 66 have certainly turned the amplifier up. “Heed the Words” is a positive, good-time rock track that delivers its message without forgetting that, first and foremost, rock music is supposed to make you want to turn it up.
