You know what it’s like, a warm day in the latter stages of Summer and you have paid the bills, looked at how little money you have and are trying not to listen to the neighbors having a domestic. There is only one thing that then comes to mind, I had to listen to some punk! I would say we do a limited amount of punk here, although we do a bit on the melodic side and we all have a healthy liking for the genre. Dead Air Network was a new name for me, but I am happy to share the press release before my review.
“New Jersey Punk/New Wave band Dead Air Network has released their brand-new single, “No Hassles”, the fourth in their growing catalog. Recorded in January 2025 at Homefront Studios by Matt Ryan and mixed/produced by Pat Av – who also played guitars and bass – the track delivers raw punk energy with a modern edge.
Originally written over 20 years ago, “No Hassles” had never been recorded until now. True to the band’s roots, Pat Av and Dave H drew strong inspiration from early punk pioneers such as The Adicts and Buzzcocks. With its gritty sound and unapologetic attitude, the single showcases Dead Air Network’s dedication to keeping the punk spirit alive and urgent.”
My review: I’m on the British side of the pond, and listening to this I was taken to the early base of British punk, something like the sound of Penetration perhaps. The sound is quite bare and stripped down, it is a track to wear the Doc Martins to and embrace the moment of being you. It retains that primitive instinct that comes with the moment and is embraced with punk.

I will also give a nod to an earlier track called “Secret Society” that currently has had 10k + listens on Spotify, a fast blast of a track and how I like my punk tbh, fast and melodic with plenty of attitude.
In summary “Dead Air Network’s ‘No Hassles’ throws back to the grit of early punk — simple, urgent, and true to the genre, even if it doesn’t break new ground.
The single is out on all platforms now.

a brief word about me! I am a new name here at Rock the Joint Magazine. I am a student taking journalism at University and I am doing an intern role here at the magazine over the Summer 2025 before starting properly at university. A thank you to Mark and Benny for giving me a chance to write full pieces and I look forward to doing some more up until September (my time here is sadly nearly over- I’m promised any tips sent over on Ko-Fi for this one lol)
