Here in the UK the heatwave continues, and they do say, “If you can’t stand the heat, then get out of the kitchen.” But what do you do if it is even hotter elsewhere? My cat agrees and, even though he is a sun worshipper who is usually found stretched out on the windowsill watching the world go by, he has been enjoying ice cubes in his water over the last couple of days. He tells me to stop messing about and get on with the review. So…
Let us start with the press release for this first of two previously unreleased tracks appearing on Hindsight: Deluxe Edition, a vinyl reissue of their earlier album arriving this fall. Crafted through atmospheric textures and haunting vocal harmonies, the deeply introspective release follows the internal journey from self-doubt to a transformative place of acceptance and renewal.
CA in LA is the creative partnership of best friends Courtney Birk and Ashleigh Coffelt, two longtime collaborators whose artistic world blends music, filmmaking, visual art and storytelling into one creative universe. Originally connecting in Maryland through independent filmmaking, the duo later relocated to Los Angeles to pursue their artistic ambitions while building a loyal online community through years of weekly live music streams on Twitch.

My Review:
This single is out on June 26, 2026 on all main platforms.
This is a dreamy number. It took me to a walk along a beach, feeling the sand beneath my feet and watching the waves roll gently onto the shore. The track runs for just over four minutes, and it promises us it is worth the journey. It certainly is.
I can identify with the message behind the song. “You go through big feelings and quiet moments, contemplating who you’ve been and who you want to be,” says CA in LA. “When you cut through the noise, you remember to listen to the one voice you’ve silenced to survive—your own.”
Hindsight is the lyrical glue that holds the song together, and I have found myself dwelling on that very word recently. As we grow older, the phrase “if only” can begin to carry a little more weight. Looking back is part of being human, but songs like this gently remind us that reflection can also lead to acceptance rather than regret.
The vocal delivery is beautifully understated, while the arrangement carries an almost folk-like warmth beneath its atmospheric production. There is nothing overcomplicated here; instead, the duo allow the melody, harmonies and emotion to do the work. Sometimes simplicity is exactly what a song needs, and CA in LA have judged that balance very well.
This is a thoughtful, reflective piece that quietly earns your attention rather than demanding it. If you are looking for something to slow the pace, clear your head and simply drift away with for four minutes, “Clarity” is well worth your time.
