I’m excited for May because I’ll be catching up with the When Rivers Meet UK tour. Here at the magazine, we did a piece on them in December for their Christmas single, and their support act on the tour is none other than award-winning American singer-songwriter and guitarist Arielle, who will release her new studio album ‘73 on Friday, April 20, 2023.

The album is available for pre-order, and I am sure, will be reviewed here in April.  The new album is said to be a love letter to her personal 1973 Volkswagen Bay Window Bus, which Arielle affectionately refers to as “Magick,” and is a celebration of its 50th anniversary. Mixing classic rock, the songwriting of the sixties, wanderlust, and plenty of The Who inspired guitar, Arielle’s new studio album is one that I will look forward to hearing.

“I bought my bus because every time I step into it, I feel like it’s a time machine,” says Arielle. Every time I step in, it takes me back to ’73.”

So, the single “73,” which I was delighted to hear as a newcomer to her music, It’s packed with ZZ Top style, great California Dreaming, and catchy hooks. It has a pace and is great fun as we enter the ‘magical bus of mystery.’ From first impressions, Arielle offers a blend of country and rock, with a nice southern style guitar that hits that southern style. For guitar enthusiasts A self-proclaimed analog girl, it’s Arielle’s personal prerogative to keep the vintage vibes alive. With her retro Marshall full stacks, tape recording, and self-built customised guitar Two-Tone, rest assured that the twenty-first century isn’t about to silence classic rock.

The album features her brand-new BMG Arielle in cherry red, manufactured by Brian May Guitars. The first batch of BMG Arielle guitars sold out in 90 minutes. Due to popular demand, for the very first time, the BMG Arielle will be available in a limited edition, solid cherry red colour. We are Queen fans here at the magazine and I have to say this was exciting.

“To understand why this guitar was irresistible to me, you need to hold her in your hands,” says Arielle. “The guitar is light, and smooth and agile. The BMG Arielle sings like a bird.”

“Arielle’s guitar playing reaches places I never knew existed,” says Brian May. “I believe this guitar will do the same.”

What a compliment!

Thus, for many reasons, I am looking forward to hearing that album and also catching her live on tour over here in the UK. As they say, “talent will out,” and this is some real guitar talent heading our way. The single was released on January 19, and is available to download from https://hypeddit.com/arielle/73single.
