With its release date of December 17th, Black Pearl has their new single “Take Your Time” available for streaming now on all major platforms, released through Redline Records. You can get it here.

Take Your Time’ features Marcus Malone (Motorcity Hustlers/Malone Sibun/ Motown artist and European Blues Awards nominee) on vocals; guitarist Muddy Manninen (14 years with Wishbone Ash / Gringos Locos/Hipkiss) and Tomi Malm, a Finnish producer, arranger, and composer, on keyboards and drums. Tomi also mixed the song at Xenoble Studios in Helsinki.

The lyrics are by songwriter Pete Feenstra, who says of the song:

“I specifically wrote this with a combination of Marcus’s soulful vocals and Muddy’s dreamy guitar parts in mind. The idea was for the music to evoke a feeling of time and space, where everything will eventually fully reveal itself.”

Tomi’s rhythmic architecture and mix were the icing on the cake.”

Black Pearl was born in lockdown and subsequently played a few Euro festivals, but was then put on hold while band members toured with separate projects.

“If your looking hard enough,

Then you’ll surely find:

Nothing left there to discuss,

Just need to take your time.” (lyrics Pete Feenstra)

The single is a smooth piece of modern blues, elevated by those guitar licks and a strong chorus hook that you can groove along to. I found myself instantly taken with the song due to the music introduction that quickly grabs you. I would love to hear this track live; I’m sure it would have a strong live following as it is one of those tracks just asking for a connection with the crowd. And with that in mind, the band will set out on a European tour in February, helped along by the new single. We will look forward to that and hope to hear this one on the set list. The tour is sure to be one of the UK blues highlights in early 2024.
