“Let it burn.
Let the ashes pile up and turn to dust.
Let the river run through and rust what we had.
Buried in the past
Let it burn.”
This is interesting, I’ve just discovered a new country artist by the name of Leeds based Emilia Quinn, and I’ve been listening to a live version of her song “Let it Burn.”
I believe the single is down for release on October 4, just before her mini acoustic tour kicks off in Leeds (we include the information poster at the end of this piece).
I do have some press release information that I can share: This release was recorded live during her 2023 headline tour and marks the final single from her debut album era, ‘Wanderlust & Breaking Rules’, which was launched in November 2023. With ‘Let It Burn’, Emilia signals a new chapter in her musical journey. ‘Let It Burn’, an unreleased song, was a standout during Emilia’s debut headline tour last November. The track captures the raw emotion of heartbreak and the act of letting go of a relationship that no longer serves. Recorded live at the Hare and Hounds in Birmingham, the song’s powerful delivery and poignant lyrics captivated the audience, drawing them into every word and emotion. 2024 has been a year of remarkable achievements for Emilia. She has graced the stages of prestigious festivals like The Long Road, Country2Country London and Buckle and Boots (as Friday night headliner) and has performed sold-out headline shows across the UK, from London to York. In addition to her live performances, Emilia has returned to the studio to begin work on her highly anticipated second album, slated for release in 2025.
My review: The track has a great live performance feel; you do sense the presence of the audience throughout, and this girl has a great voice, quite soulful within the general story telling of the piece. It’s one of those broken relationship songs, but with that bit of angst in the mix and that’s what elevates it lyrically and for the listener. It has a rawness that fits the song well.
I then dipped into her music a bit and, because reviewing one track is a little limiting, I felt like raising a shout for a song called “Magpie.” Maybe it is the Geordie in me, but I liked this one. It has a rocky edge in the music that suits Emilia’s voice well; the drums pick up the heartbeat and the guitars nail it. I will be coming back to this one again; I liked it a lot and I’m also a little superstitious!
