One of the things about being us is that we have to have an ear to the ground when it comes to new indie acts that are making a few waves under our umbrella!

Lady Garden are an all-female, riot girl-inspired punk band from Cardiff, South Wales.

Lady Garden are:

Isobel Mussa on vocals and guitar,

Sali Morgan, lead guitar

Amelie Wallace, bassist

Xanthe Barnes, drums.

Formed in June 2024, they made their debut at Cardiff Castles Pride Festival and have since headlined three sold-out shows, building a strong local and online presence.

The girls have just released their debut single, “Funny,” which has already earned multiple radio plays, including BBC Radio Wales.

It was released on February 14 and it found its way into my intray for listens via some nefarious sources lol.

This opening single is a bold introduction to the band, delivering a sassy pop-punk attitude in the vein of The Bombpops, paired with tongue-in-cheek lyrics that add plenty of character. The drums pack a punch (Xanthe – well done!), driving the track forward with energy, and the rhythmic section around 2:10 stands out as a particularly tight moment. Clocking in at just under three minutes, it’s a snappy burst of contemporary Welsh punk with a raw, infectious edge. With its undeniable commercial appeal and radio-friendly hooks, this track has all the makings of a strong debut from a band that clearly means business.
