Robbie Harte, New Single: “Heart in 2 Places”
As a basic rule, ever since we started, we reviewed material we liked! We keep that rule, which means our readers are getting pointed toward the best that comes our way! Also, there is only little me doing the country side here at the magazine, and there are only so many hours in the day! This track is one of those that rises to the top. It’s from an award winning country artist, and listening to this, you can see why those awards have arrived (two ISSA awards and 3 Josie Music Award nominations, among others). It’s modern country singer-songwriting at its best.
I knew her from a previous single, “Too Pretty to Be Home,” and for those a little unsure who she is, as a young girl, Robbie always dreamed of being a professional singer. But that dream was put on hold fifteen years ago after a life-changing injury left her with chronic pain and also resulted in the loss of her ability to sing. Ultimately, however, it was music that helped her heal the most. She credits music with soothing her soul and giving her the strength and determination to push through, even during the most difficult of times. It was music that gave Robbie a voice, which she is determined to use to uplift and inspire others. In 2017, Robbie was compelled to follow her dream to sing, no matter how difficult it may be. She was inspired and motivated by the desire to show her young daughter that a disability should never stop her from chasing her dreams.
Matt Anthony co-wrote this song, inspired by Harte’s personal experience of leaving her home in Canada to make a new one in New York. Despite being miles away, she always feels connected to her hometown.
“Some people don’t have a place to call home… I feel lucky to have two places I am loved and welcome, that are full of loving family,” says Harte.
My review: A country rock track with some great guitar grooves, a solid drum and bass beat, and vocals that make you smile, it had me dancing around my living room with the cat in my arms. I love it when music uplifts you and makes you feel better for listening, and here we go with this one. I’m sure this one will be loved by all fans of country rock, and it should get plenty of play on country radio too. Here in the UK, if our friends at Radio 2 are reading this, this would be so loved by your listeners!
