World music and world blues/rock are a niche we like to occupy. We also, as anyone who reads this magazine knows, have a mission to put acts in focus who may otherwise be unknown to the wider listening public. Doctor Lincoln falls into this category.

Let us introduce!

Doctor Lincoln used to be a heart surgeon, but in 2018 he was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome and gave up his job to make music full-time. The doctor who became a musician started a campaign in 2021 to get people with autism involved in India’s music industry. Since his first single, “Don’t Let Go,” from his upcoming album “Will See You Now,” came out in January 2022, he has been gaining interest and popularity.

From the get go “Break the Ice” is a powerful melodic piece of pop/rock with a slice of blues guitar. Doctor Lincoln has a great voice, and the track is infused with spirit. The message of the song is simple and is delivered with style. It’s time to take a step back, “break the ice,” learn to see things from a different point of view, and agree to disagree, always looking past the surface, into the heart, and toward what brings us all together: our humanity.

“Don’t Let Go” was the January 2022 release that you may have heard, and the video link is below. This is an artist who first entered the Indian music scene (he is based in Kochi) in 2008, with the alternative/avant-garde band Once Chosen, bringing neurodivergent artist Lincoln to India’s underground music scene. In 2009, the band’s Reverbnation page had an EP called “Superliminal.” However, the band broke up soon after. After 2009, Doctor Lincoln moved between different cities and his hometown and decided to go his own way with his music. He began writing the songs that would become his first album, “Wallflower.” This came out on May 14, 2016 and is worth checking out too if you like to see the development of his style.

What we have now is sophisticated pop for 2022. He’s a great talent and we applaud him, we enjoyed the music and think you will too.
