I have to say this artist has one of the more interesting names I have come across, The Many Beards of Broxi reminds me of the name of one of those bars in a Galaxy Far Far Away that we find in the Star Wars movies! I will note, however, that it may connect to the Rangers mascot Broxi Bear? (See I do my homework!). Aside from that, this review finds me extremely tired today, I keep having to go outside to wake myself up and focus, I blame it on the humid weather and poor sleep in consequence. Armed with a coffee (and I’m a tea drinker, so these are desperate times) I am reviewing a new single today from an artist I have not come across before. Allow me to first share the press release:

The Many Beards of Broxi is the recording project of Glasgow songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Craig Adams. After years playing in local bands and venues across Scotland, he launched the project to explore a growing catalogue of songs that eventually became two companion albums. Craig also recently joined @TheModernKind who released their debut album in February 26.
Drawing inspiration from artists such as The Beatles, Neil Young, Ryan Adams, Noel Gallagher, King Creosote and Nick Cave, the debut album “The Direction We’re Facing In” leans into acoustic guitars, piano, strings and psychedelic folk-rock textures. Its forthcoming sister album “Sexy Fitbaw” takes the same songwriting approach into louder territory, blending big riffs and electric guitars inspired by Led Zeppelin, Oasis, The Rolling Stones, Spiritualized and classic British rock.
What makes the project unique is its collaborative spirit. While Adams writes, records, mixes and masters the music himself from his home studio, friends, family and fellow musicians regularly contribute ideas and performances, helping shape the songs into something bigger than a traditional solo project.
The project began as one album but eventually became two companion records. Last year’s The Direction We’re Facing In explored a more acoustic and psychedelic sound, while forthcoming follow-up Sexy Fitbaw heads into louder, riff-driven territory.
My Review
With the album “Sexy Fitbaw” on the way (sounding like a character who would be buying a strange drink in the cafe far far away) – this is the first single from the upcoming album and has a release date of 24.07.26. I liked the artwork for the single (above) very much, the black on bronze style was very effective.
“I’m waiting for you to blow my mind” sings Craig in this psychedelic rocker. It has a taste of the late sixties, dreamy and with these heavy layered style vocals. The lyrics land like a mantra, the guitars do have that Oasis feel. I retreat from my sense of the bar in another Galaxy, I would see Shaggy (minus Scooby) rocking away to this one. It has personality, and listening to it I felt I was hearing something that was not just like a lot of other songs, it had the artists sense of personality and direction clearly stamped on it. It is an example of an independent artist creating a distinctive sound and I hope some of the commercial radio stations up there in Scotland pick it up for some late evening listening.
