Ritchie and Debra won silver at the ISSA in Atlanta for the Vocal Duo of the Year award in 2024. We have featured them in the magazine previously and it’s notable that they are hard-working, independent musicians well-respected within the British blues scene.

Their close work with Michael Tingle continues and he masters, produces and mixes this one (he also filmed the video).

My review:

One of my favorites from the duo is “I can hear the train a coming,” this one has a funky rock feel and feels like a close cousin to the former track. Debra keeps a great tempo and the video sees her moving to the groove! Ritchie always delivers a cool riff and is an emotive player, fully immersed with the music. I can see him heading off into a solo when this one is played live, and this duo is very much a live outfit.

In summary, there is an obvious chemistry between Ritchie and Debra, and it shines through both in their studio work and on stage; they are enjoying making music. Their ability to create a full, dynamic sound as a duo is impressive, proving that great music comes from enthusiasm, passion and skill. This track has an infectious energy that makes it impossible to sit still—it’s made for tapping feet and nodding heads. With Michael Tingle’s crisp production, every note and beat is given the space to breathe.

Well worth a listen and commercial radio could do a lot worse than giving this a few plays!
