My press release tells me that Robyn’s new single, “Just Need the Wine,” is a fun, lighthearted track inspired by a chaotic house party. Attending sober, she expected a relaxed evening but found herself amid teenage mayhem—spilled drinks, drunken antics, and a friend being sick in the bathtub. Longing for a simple glass of wine, Robyn instead played babysitter, keeping the night from total disaster. Blending humor and relatability with a catchy beat, the song captures the absurdity of out-of-control parties. It’s an anthem for anyone who’s ever wanted peace in the middle of chaos.

“I’ve been to my fair share of wild parties, but that night was unforgettable,” Robyn recalls. “It was a hot mess—I just wanted to escape, but instead, I was taking care of everyone. Looking back, it’s hilarious, but at the time, it was pure chaos.”

“Just Need the Wine” is a comedic reflection on party misadventures and lessons learned.

Robyn’s signature red hat has become an icon in her home country’s growing country scene.

Release date: March 28 on all platforms.

My review: This is indeed a fun single with a lot of depth in the instrumentalization, some complex melodies and a great, uplifting singalong feel to it. I would say it is a party song that you would happily enjoy with friends and have a good time. It has a bit of a rock feel with the grooves and is, again from Robyn, a really solidly radio-friendly song – in fact, if I don’t hear this on Radio 2 and commercial country radio, then there is something very wrong with the world. “I wanna go where the devil goes,” sings Robyn and she does a great job.

In summary: This track balances humor, energy, and a touch of chaos. Robyn’s storytelling shines through both lyrically and musically, proving once again why she’s a rising force in the country scene. With its infectious chorus and clever lyricism, Just Need the Wine isn’t just a party anthem—it’s a relatable snapshot of nights we’ve all experienced (or tried to forget).
