The Passerines are a 4 Piece alt-country band from Rugby, playing songs about love, loss, luck and the occasional murder. We did a feature piece on The Passerines early this year and were big fans of the earlier release “Shot that Fucker Dead” as it resonated with the great desire we all have to occasionally get rid of that bastard lol (I have linked that one at the end for your viewing and listening pleasure).

Apart from that, the Passerines are:

Becky Murphy on vocals and rhythm guitar,

Stuart Lord on drums and harmonies.

Grahame Scott on bass

Si Crane on lead guitar and banjo.

Becky told us that after a bit of a break the band hoped to be back fit and fighting for the Summer of 2025 and so this single may well be the return to the fight for this group of folk rock troubadours.

The band describe the new song as “a playful ode to impulsive romance, marrying heartfelt lyrics with driving melodies and the band’s trademark energy.”

It was recorded in the Otterhead Studios and produced by Ant Chapman.

The new single “Married in Vegas” is out on September 5 on all platforms.

My review: A single set in the city of sin! It is one of those lyrics that reflects on how when you have that special person with you you are essentially bulletproof. The desire to just get married here and now – in Vegas, the city of placing a bet. Who needs to dress in white? Who needs the diamond ring or band of gold, you just need the right person with you! The single has a real uplift, a catchy chorus and a commercial radio feel and a nod to Elvis. For a band who often deliver angst and a few bullets this is a trip to romance and abandon! The end slips into a clap along a feeling of positivity.

Married in Vegas might just be the soundtrack to reckless romance done right — proof that The Passerines can swap out bullets for bouquets without losing their bite. If you’re not humming the chorus by the second play, check your pulse. ‘Sometimes you don’t need the diamond, you just need the damn song!’

And we hope you liked the review, dear reader! If you did, please check out the other pages of the magazine; we have many great features, merchandise pages, shops, editorials and even a poetry page.
