What a great month for new country releases May is turning out to be! My little in-tray for country music has been bursting at the seams this month with some wonderful talent and new music from both sides of the Atlantic.

This single from one of our old friends here at the magazine was out on all platforms today, May 23, so (as I sit enjoying a cool fruit juice in the garden) I am about to give it a listen and a review for you all!

For those of you who like a bit of background, I will share the press release:

Known for her emotive storytelling and raw vocal delivery, Sarah Louise continues to solidify her place as one of the most authentic voices in contemporary country and singer-songwriter music. With multiple iTunes #1 singles across the UK and Europe and performances at iconic venues like The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville and The Cavern Club in Liverpool, Sarah’s music resonates deeply with audiences around the world.

Now, the international chart-topping singer-songwriter Sarah Louise announces the release of her brand-new single, “Never All In,” a deeply personal exploration of trust, vulnerability, and discovering the truth.

For Sarah, this track marks the start of a new artist journey, setting up a tone for upcoming releases. Including her most recent successes, “Simply the Best” and “It’s Over Now,” these songs are leading into her highly anticipated  album, a collection of songs that showcase her at her most vulnerable and honest work yet — capturing the emotional truth that lies at the heart of her music.

“Never All In” is an emotional song about letting go and realizing that you were trying too hard to make it work. I chose a long instrumental to reflect the feelings in the song of the realization of truth and release.

My review:

Sarah-Louise is a storyteller at heart; she draws an emotive connection to her songs, something felt in this song that forms a reverie on past grief. The guitar work is lovely and the harmony in the notes is relaxing for a summer’s day or warm night. It’s a listen that carries you along and it should surely attract some radio play, as it has a wide reach beyond the country market alone. We can all connect to that love that got away; they were never all in after all.

So, if you’re after a song to soundtrack your sunset reflections or just need a gentle reminder that you’re possibly better off without the ones who never fully showed up, “Never All In” should be your next play. Sarah Louise has done it again—delivered heartache with grace, wrapped in a melody you’ll hum for days. As for me, I’ll be pressing replay and topping up the fruit juice. Country music in May? It’s hitting all the right notes.

And we hope you liked the review, dear reader! If you did, please check out the other pages of the magazine; we have many great features, merchandise, editorials, and even poetry!
