Comprised of Kimberley (lead vocals), Ollie (lead guitar), Nick (bass and backing vocals), Tom (rhythm guitar and backing vocals), and Jordan (drums), Rogue Awakening were originally formed in 2021; however, it’s the last twelve months that have really started to shape the quintet. 2023’s debut EP, “Feed Me Fire” (which we spoke to the band about at the time, linked here), helped to put the band on the map, and their last single, “The Hunter” (review here) racked up strong radio support, including spins on ‘BBC Introducing.’ A potent live schedule has also elevated the towering riff merchants, and so has their recent performance at ‘Guilfest.’

“I’m a demon and a goddess

If I’m really being honest

I am broken from repair

Take a minute with my darkness…” (lyrics curtesy of Rogue Awakening)

This is a dark, heavy track from a band that we interviewed a year or so ago. It still retains those melodies and big drum sounds that rumble away under those melancholic, powerful vocals. The track opens with these searing riffs and a killer opening verse delivered by Kimberley with style and confidence. Although more heavy than their past releases, this track should still attract mainstream commercial rock radio for a play; it is solid driving music and has plenty of beyond-base listener appeal. With their appearances in festivals, I feel that this will be one of the names to watch out for from Great British rock in 2025.

The band remarks about the track: “Bloodflow is an observation on individuals who tend to ‘people please’ at the detriment of their own happiness and boundaries. The song and the theme came together effortlessly, and it was a great experience recording and fine tuning the song together in the studio.”

As the year draws to a close, the UK riff slingers have further plans in place for a glut of releases in 2025, as well as an extensive touring schedule. Just watch this space……
